It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of, Franklin Del Prado. An extraordinary, generous man, who was known to defeat the odds. Born on November 12 of 1950. Franklin was the first born of two sons. He spent the first 18 years of his life in his home country, the Dominican Republic. In 1968 Franklin moved to New York. Later in September of 1971 Franklin was joined by the love of his life and childhood friend Ines and got married later that year. In 1974, Franklin welcomed his first child, a son named Franklin. Ten years later the family welcomed a second child, this time a daughter named Stephanie. Being an amazing father was one of Franklin's proudest achievements. He enjoyed spending time together and making memories with his family. His love of being a father even transcended past his own children. Later in life Franklin would discover an even greater joy of his, being a grandfather. Franklin lived for experiences and was someone that never found an issue in celebrating life. He always had beautiful anecdotes to share at the drop of a hat. Whether it was describing an event he had been to or one that he hosted. Like a natural story teller, he had no issue in making you feel as if you were there. Franklin was also a connoisseur of many things. Throughout the years he amassed a collection of hats, sunglasses, cologne and music that would make any die-hard collector envious. He did the same with life experiences. From receiving V.I.P. access at live events to hanging out at exclusive members only clubs, to DJing throughout the city and to the many block parties he threw throughout the years for the neighborhood. He was someone who enjoyed bringing people together to celebrate life and have a good time. Today we gather to celebrate his. Though it is a sad time for all, please know that he's more than likely smiling at us right now for coming together and sharing in good memories. Franklin is survived by his wife, Ines and his children Franklin and Stephanie Del Prado, as well as his grandchildren.
