In loving memory of Fred O. Tate who passed peacefully surrounded by family
on June 14, 2025. Fred was born on September 9, 1933 in Georgia to Arthur and
Mary Tate. Fred, known as Grandpa to most people, was cherished and loved by
many. He worked dutifully for City Auto Stamping for over twenty years until he
retired. Known to be stubborn, Fred marched to the beat of his own drum and
truly didn't listen to anyone. He was the energizer bunny up until his final days;
always going and going. He loved making people laugh, woodworking for fun,
repairing lawnmowers and watching westerns on end for days while snacking.
Full of life and laughter he will dearly be missed. Preceded in death by his
parents Arthur and Mary Tate. His two brothers James and Buddy Tate. His
sister Janie Ruth Madaris. And his beloved wife and soulmate, Edna Tate. Left to
remember him are his two daughters Mary (Hector) Vargas and Theresa (Larry)
Tate. Four granddaughters, Alexis (Kyle) Lewandowski, Asia Vargas, Anna
(Michael) Vargas, and Alissa Vargas. Three great-grandchildren, James and
Marcus Allen Lewandowski and Avery Ann Vargas-Reyes. And the dozens of
friends Fred made along the way. We'll always remember his smirk when he
was up to no good.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 12:00pm in Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Earnest Corbitt officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Community Cemetery in LaFayette, GA.
