Frederick Bristol Sr. passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, IA. Frederick Alexis Bristol Sr. was born on October 21, 1942, to parents Frank and Eunice (Meisenhelder) Bristol in Anthon, IA. He grew up in Lake City, IA, where he graduated from high school with the class of 1960. After graduation, Fred enlisted to serve his country in the United States Air Force at the age of 18. He retired from the Air Force after 26 years. Fred was united in marriage to Elizabeth Barner but later divorced. This union was blessed with six children: Tammy, Joelle, Christine, Frederick Jr., Mark, and Merrill. During this time, Fred worked as an Air Force Jet Aircraft Mechanic until November 1986. On November 5, 1988, Fred was married to Jolene Dee Kinney at the Lohrville Methodist Church. He had many hobbies and interests like model railroads, music, aquariums, and fish. He also enjoyed hunting rabbits. Fred was also a member of the VFW in Lake City. He was a very hardworking guy. Many would describe him as a quality person, super nice, and perfect the way he was. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Jolene Bristol of Lohrville, IA; children: Tammy Thorpe of Garrett, PA, Joelle ( Patrick) Therien of Omaha, NE, Christine (Jason) Johnson of Powell, TN, Frederick A. Bristol Jr. (Eric Appleton) of Madison, WI; grandchildren: Sarah Thorpe, Crystal Bristol, Vance Johnson, Amanda (Nate) Wood, Courtney Johnson; great-grandchildren: Presley and Scarlett Wood, Khyara, and Khymari Bristol, Khyleah Williams, siblings: Nila (Terry) Finley of Auburn, IA, and Reene (Tim) Burley of Ankeny, IA, brother-in-law: Gene Kinney, sister-in-law: Barbara Kinney, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons: Mark and Merrill Bristol, and his brother-in-law, Terry Finley. The Memorial Service is 11:00 am, Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the Lampe and Powers Funeral Home in Lake City, Iowa, with visitation from 9:30 am until service time. The Burial will follow in the Lake City Cemetery. A Luncheon will take place at the Lohrville Fire Station after the burial.
