Thornton Funeral HomeFrederick Julius “Rick” Clatenbaugh, 80, of Mt. Ida, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 29th, 2025. He was at CHI St. Vincent Hospital Hospice after a long battle with his health, with his daughter Dawn at his bedside.
He moved to Arkansas about 1997. He spent the first couple of years living on his boat on Lake Ouachita. He loved all animals! He enjoyed his life with horses, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, tracking and hiking in the surrounding area. He loved riding his motorcycle and was a pilot.
He grew up in Maryland. He was a Vietnam Veteran; he was drafted into the Army in 1966. He was a free Mason, a minister; he worked in Engineering as a cost analyst specialist for power plants. He owned his own business, Ensearch Inc. for ten years as a Job Recruiter. He was a salesman and traveled selling church furniture until he retired.
He was born on November 23, 1944, in Balitmore, MD to the late Frederick Julius Clatenbaugh, SR. and Mary Moore Hinebaugh.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister, Sherry Lynn Moore.
He is survived by his most loyal companion, Adrian, the mother of his children Patricia Diane Clatenbaugh of Springfield, MO. His daughters, Dawn Renee Clatenbaugh (Justin Cobiski) of Springfield, MO., Jennifer Leigh (Christopher) McWhirter of Rogersville, MO., Son, Morgan Wade Clatenbaugh of Springfield, MO., Daugher, Ame Margaret (Michael) Sizemore of Hampstead, MD., special friend Aletha Lucille “Lucy” Collins of Mt. Ida, AR., grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Millay Abella (Tyler) Shearin of Springfield, MO., Robert Michael Lalik, JR. Abigail Mariah Lalik, Ariella Marie Lalik of Fredrick, MD, Rachel Marceline (Dustin) Hamilton, Beau Michael Hamilton, Jenna Mae Lawrence of Aberdeen, MD., Savannah Marie Miller of York, PA.
We will be honoring Rick on September 29th at 2:00 pm at Fort Smith National Cemetery. He loved his country and by his request he will be reunited with his fellow brothers of the Vietnam war. We love you and thank you for serving your country.
