Gary A. Bondioli, 80, of Wausau, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at his home under the care of his family and Interim Hospice.
Gary was born August 14, 1944, in Merrill, son of Geno and Margaret (Lindstrom) Bondioli. He graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1962 and then attended Manpower Business in Milwaukee. Gary enlisted in the United States Army on March 31, 1964. He served three years in Germany and was honorably discharged on March 13, 1967. During his service he received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Sharpshooter (rifle) Badge. In May 2018, Gary took part in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight.
After his discharge from the Army, Gary started working for Weinbrenner Shoe Company. He then started a Coldwell Banker franchise with a partner in Marshfield. Later, he sold his share of the real estate company and moved to Appleton where he started his appraisal company, B&F Appraisal. Gary worked in residential real estate appraisals until his retirement. Gary then moved to Wisconsin Rapids where he lived for many years and eventually moved to Wausau.
Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent much of his time on his hunting land north of Merrill exploring the woods. He was a member of the Lions Club in Wisconsin Rapids, the Merrill Silver M Club, and assisted with Meals on Wheels and driving people to doctor’s appointments through ADRC. Gary was an animal lover and volunteered at the Humane Societies in Appleton, Wisconsin Rapids, and Wausau.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Geno and Margaret; brothers, Alan and Eugene; and sister-in-law, Gloria.
Gary is dearly missed by his children with former wife, Katherine Bondioli; son, Christopher (Barbara) Bondioli of Wisconsin Rapids; daughters, Michelle Bondioli of Appleton, Sarah (Rafael) Bondioli-Naranjo of Wausau, and Nicholle (Joe) Preuss of Appleton; grandchildren, Teagann and Grey Bondioli, Madison and Marisol Naranjo, and Connor Preuss; sister, Tammy (Bryan) Blom of Zimmerman, MN; brother, Joe (Hannah) Bondioli of Park Falls, WI; and significant other, Suzy Hiter of Wausau.
The celebration of life will take place at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Taylor-Stine-Waid Funeral & Cremation – 301 Eagle Dr., Merrill. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. A lunch will be provided following the service at the Eagle’s Club. In lieu of flowers, Gary requested donations to be made to the Silver M Club and the Humane Societies of Lincoln and Marathon County.
Gary’s family would like to especially thank John, Tim, Mike, and Sarah with Interim Hospice for the compassion and care they gave to Gary.
