Gary L. Kuebli, age 89, of Monticello passed into eternal life to be with his beloved wife Helen and his most loyal dog pals on May 31, 2025. Gary was born January 5th, 1936 to Henry and Helen (Miller) Kuebli. He was the oldest of three sons.
Gary married his beautiful bride, Helen Mueller on October 21, 1956. Together they raised four spunky, independent daughters. Gary was an avid athlete, outdoorsman and expert marksman, in fact, on their wedding day the men in the church were taking bets on whether he would show up as it was opening day of pheasant hunting. He also helped coach his daughters in track.
Gary was a proud member of the Wisconsin National Guard from 1954 to 1965. Some of his best memories and stories were from training sessions in Alaska and Washington state. He was also on duty when the tornado hit Monroe in 1965. He and Helen also had wonderful times dancing with the Swiss dancers of New Glarus.
He was well known for his meat cutting skills, beginning at Stricklers Market in New Glarus and ending at U.W. Provisions, where he retired from in 2000. Many times after a full day at work, he would stop in Monticello and help cut meat for his buddy "Big Ern", Ernie Gempeler at Gempelers Supermarket.
He is survived by his four daughters: Laura (Mark) Miller, Dena (Jim) Laughlin, Denise Baker and Tricia (Josh Ganshert) Barker; his grandchildren: Rachel Miller (Adam DeLauder), Riley (Kayla) Miller, Anna and David Laughlin, Jeremy and Jacob Heins, Isaac Sigafus, and Tyler, Vaughn and Haden Barker; his six great-grandchildren; brother Galen (Kathy) Kuebli; sisters-in-law, Gert Waelchli, Chris Galloway; and brother-in-law, Walt (Kathy) Mueller.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen; his little brother Dean; his beloved wife, Helen; son-in-law Jon Baker; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Meta Mueller; sisters-in-law, Meta Holloway, Rosa Helgeson and Cheryl Mueller; brothers-in-law, John Waelchli and Keith Holloway.
Gary will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his family and friends. Especially the people who saw him walking his black Lab, Bert, or who chatted with him over lunch at the M&M.
As per Gary's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
A special thanks to the caregivers at the New Glarus Home who truly loved him and did all they could to make him happy and comfortable, as well as the loving care from Agrace Hospice. God bless you all.

My deepest sympathy to you gals and families.

Jack and Gary renewed their friendship of hunting the passed couple of weeks at the Ne Glarus Home, On May 29th I gave Gary a big hug and told him his hunting buddy had passed. Who would have thought within days they would meet again

Very sorry to here of Gary's passing,he was a wonderful person and a great pet owner...we would often pass each other while walking our dogs,no matter the weather!! Bert his lab had a Neverending dislike for my Akita Yoki and whenever we would pass each other going in opposite directions with our dogs in the vehicles you could see Bert sitting next to Gary just barking his head off several blocks away...finally we'd pass each other by and wave while laughing hysterically. That is the memory I shall always keep in my mind of Gary.My deepest condolences to you all
