Gary W. Moody Sr. age 70, of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away on 6/19/25.
Gary was born in Williston, South Carolina to Josephine Bing and Isadore Moody on August 23rd, 1954. He went to Dickerson High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. He married Mary Moody on 6/10/75 in St. Matthews, South Carolina. He worked as a Nuclear Power Reactor Operator for the Department of Defense for 30 years. He served in the Army for over 12 years and was awarded National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Nuclear Power Operator/Nuclear Power Operator (1st Class) and a Rifle M16 Sharpshooter Qualification Badge. He loved coaching Little League, AAU basketball, high school football and baseball. He received an award from the Nuclear Effects Directorate for improving the structural integrity of the White Sands Missile Range Reactor Facility.
Gary W. Moody Sr. is preceded in death by his mother Josephine Bing, father Isadore Moody and sister Linda Williams.
Gary W. Moody is survived by wife, Mary Moody, son, Gary W. Moody Jr. brothers and sisters including Gail Harrison Walton and her husband Leon Walton, Parrish Bing, Marilyn Foster and her husband Jonathan Foster, (brother in life) Ethelma Gill Jr. and his wife Sandra Gill, (brother in life) Kent Furrow and his wife Terri Furrow, several nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and grand nephews.
A funeral is scheduled for June 27th, 2025 at La Paz Grahams Funeral Home 555 W. Amador Ave Las Cruces, NM 88005. A burial with military honors will be in Cameron, South Carolina In lieu of sending flowers the Moody family would like for you to donate to the NAACP or to invest into the future of the children in your family.
