Gary Steen Stromberg was born February 3, 1941 to Steen and Leona (Claire) Stromberg in St. James, Minnesota. He moved with his family to Trimont and that is where he received his education. Gary was employed at Reichel & Son in Mankato as a painter. Later in his career he teamed up with his father, Steen - together the duo began 'Stromberg Painting'. After his father retired, Gary finished his career with Reichel Painting in Mankato until 2009. Gary was united in marriage to Susan Meyer at the Assembly of God Church in St. James, Minnesota on January 21, 1967. Together they had two daughters, Melissa and Melanie. His daughter Melanie had the upmost privilege of caring for him during his final years of life - keeping him at home as long as possible. Throughout his life journey, he made his home in Mankato, Madelia and finally at his family's farm outside of Butterfield until his recent placement at Pleasant View in St. James where he was called to Heaven by God. Gary had a love for cars, going to the races and as well as car shows. Back in the day, he even had his own race car he called "Fox On The Run" that he competed in drag races with. He spent a majority of his time in his garage tinkering with his own classic cars and listening to old classic country on the radio - all while enjoying either a cup of coffee or Pepsi, with a cigarette in hand. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, he loved his family completely and he will be missed by all.

He is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Anderson of St. James, Minnesota and Melanie (Doug) Fredin of rural Butterfield, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Brandon Linscheid, Jordan Anderson, Brielle Anderson, Gavin Anderson, Lucas Fredin, Olivia Fredin and her fiancée, Dustin Hjelmer; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Nevada, Keanin, Landon, Abel; Abel's mother/Anthony's fiancée, Megan; sister, Nancy Stromberg Klaus of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother, Dannie (Marcee) Stromberg of Redwood Falls, Minnesota.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Steen and Leona Stromberg; wife, Susan Stromberg in 1977; son-in-law, Jeff Anderson; grandson, Anthony Anderson; great-grandson, Prestin.
