Funeral services for Gene Willson, 80, of Corrigan will be held Friday, February 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Corrigan Chapel with Brother Lesly Wilkinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Willson was born July 24, 1944, in Camden, Texas to the late Effie Mae (Rogers) and Jutty Willson, and died Tuesday, February 4, 2025 in a local hospital.
Gene was a lifelong resident of Polk County. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam from 1966-1968. He retired from Lufkin Industries.
Survivors include his wife, Gay Nell Willson; daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Jimmy McDonald of Corrigan; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Jeanene Willson of Leggett; grandchildren, Wes Cockrell, Ty Willson, Celena Allman, Samantha Goodman, Cody McDonald and Kaden Willson; great-grandchildren, Brooks Allman, Allie Mercer, Skylar Mercer, Tucker Cockrell, Easton McDonald, Logan Willson, Hudson Goodman, Jessie Mae McDonald, Carter Goodman, Stetson McDonald, and Kasey Willson; sister, Ollie Ringo of Huntsville; brothers and sister-in-law, John and Kay Willson of Hudson and Steve Willson of Sulphur, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jutty and Effie Willson; sister, Ella Mae Risenhoover; and brothers, J.L. Willson, Jr. and Delbert Willson.
Pallbearers will be Wes Cockrell, Brent Allman, Ty Willson, Cody McDonald, Daniel Goodman and Kaden Willson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Risenhoover, James Ringo and Billy Ringo.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
