Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gorman Funeral Homes - Converse Chapel - Douglas on Jan. 25, 2025.
Genevieve Celia "Jeanne" Moore, 81, was born Saturday, May 22, 1943 in Gunnison, Colorado to Martin and Genevieve (Duran) Chavez. Jeanne was an only child until she asked for a baby sister on her 9th birthday. A year later she had her baby sister, Sandra Lee "Sandy". After graduating from Gunnison High School she moved to Denver, Colorado where she was working in a cafe and met her future husband, Mike Moore. They married August 11, 1962 and began their adventure through life together.
In May of 1970 Jeanne became a mother to a little boy, Michael, while living in Lake Jackson, Texas. In 1975 they welcomed a baby girl, Sandra. Soon the adventure of life took this family of four to Longmont, Colorado. After moving around through Wyoming, they eventually landed back in Texas in 1983. Living in Van, Texas Jeanne was offered a job with the School District working in Kindergarten as a Para. Jeanne loved working with children and thrived working with students that may need some extra help. Jeanne always looked at each student as an individual and treated them with kindness and respect. In December of 1996 Jeanne left the school district and moved back to Wyoming in 1997.
Douglas, Wyoming is where Jeanne and her husband of 63 years have resided until she left her earthly body on the morning of Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Douglas Care Center. During her years living in Douglas, she was a friend to many and enjoyed meeting new people in the community. She worked, a bit, to support her quilting habit and continued to quilt as long as she possibly could. Jeanne also enjoyed being Granny, loving her grandchildren with all of her heart and then a bit more.
Jeanne is survived by her husband of 63 years, Mike Moore of Douglas; son, Michael Moore of Douglas and his two girls, Sydnee and Bryce both of Casper, Wyoming; her daughter, Sandra (John) Toolen and their two girls, Michaela and Annon of Douglas; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Martin, on June 25, 1973; mother, Genevieve, on September 17, 1988; and sister, Sandy Chavez, on August 6, 1970 along with family and friends that she will enjoy seeing and chatting with again.
