Genevieve C. Peterman, 93, of Tuscarawas passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Ohio's Hospice Truman House with her loving family by her side.
Born in New Philadelphia on April 6, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Clayton M. and Catherine (Schneider) Albaugh. She married the late Paul I. Peterman on June 14, 1953. Prior to his passing on October 21, 2020, they met at the county fair and shared 67 wonderful years of marriage.
She was a 1950 graduate of Midvale High School, was busy as a homemaker and employed at the former Puritan Laundry in New Philadelphia. She also assisted her husband in the family business, Peterman Plumbing. Genevieve was a member of the Midvale Methodist Church and enjoyed flower gardening, word books and puzzles, and traveling to Florida. She cherished her time spent with her grandchildren.
Genevieve is survived by her children; son Doug (Cindy) Peterman of New Philadelphia, and daughter Kathy (Bruce) Roth of Tuscarawas; grandchildren Erin (Tammy) Peterman, Doug (Natalie) Peterman, Jr., Jessica (Nicholas) Swaldo, and Kelsey (Daniel) Swaldo; and great grandchildren Bryley, Beckett, Nolan, Clayton, Rhyan, Scarlett, and Rorrik.
In addition to her parents and husband Paul, she is preceded in death by a brother, James Albaugh.
Services for Genevieve will be held at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kory Rowland and Ed Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-11 am (one hour prior to the service).
Contributions in Genevieve's memory may be made to the Midvale Methodist Church 4383 State Street, Midvale, OH 44653, or Ohio's Hospice Truman House 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
