Genoveva "Veva" Perez Luna passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 27, 2025 in Dallas, Texas. She was born May 12, 1936 in Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon in Mexico to her parents Pascual Hernandez Perez and Agustina Chavez Perez.
She met the love of her life John Luna Jr at Reverchon Park in Dallas, Texas. They later married in September of 1965 and had been together for 60 wonderful years. Genoveva was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Veva always had a home cooked meal ready for anyone who visited. Her homemade tamales, pies and menudo were family favorites and her famous mole and potato salad were legendary. God and family were the two most important things in Veva's life. Veva was a powerful prayer warrior who prayed every day for her family here on earth and in heaven. What a lovely legacy, she has left.
She is joined in heaven by both her parents Pascual Hernandez Perez and Agustina Chavez Perez and her siblings Roberto, Candido, Guadalupe, Ramona, Mercedez, Petra, Esperanza and her daughter, Janie Luna and her grandson, Jose "Toro" Loera and her best friend, Felicitas "Fela" Porras and her nephew, Francisco Cruz Perez.
She will be dearly missed by her husband John, and her brother Manuel and her three children Estela, Melissa and Robert, and six grandchildren Alfredo, Olivia, John, Estella, Geneva, and Lorenzo and 14 great grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Rocky. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and her niece, Estela Perez Chavez and the Porras family. She will always be remembered by those lucky enough to have met her and have been fed by her.
In lieu of flowers, her family would very much appreciate donations to the American Legion Post 275 at 2804 S Cockrell Hill Rd Dallas, Texas 75211. The American Legion Post 275 was very dear to her family, where her husband John is a legionnaire.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 10, 2025 at The Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe located at 2215 Ross Ave., Dallas, TX 75201. A committal service will be at Dallas/Fort Worth Natioanl Cemetery at 2:15 PM, April 10, 2025.

Genoveva "Veva" Perez Luna falleció en paz rodeada de su familia el 27 de marzo de 2025 en Dallas, Texas. Nació el 12 de mayo de 1936 en Montemorelos, Nuevo León en México de sus padres Pascual Hernández Pérez y Agustina Chávez Pérez.
Conoció al amor de su vida John Luna Jr en Reverchon Park en Dallas, Texas. Más tarde se casaron en septiembre de 1965 y han estado juntos durante 60 años maravillosos. Genoveva fue una devota esposa, madre, hija, abuela, bisabuela, hermana, tía y amiga de muchos. Veva siempre tenía una comida casera lista para cualquiera que la visitara. Sus tamales caseros, pasteles y menudo eran los favoritos de la familia y su famoso mole y ensalada de patatas eran legendarios. Dios y la familia eran las dos cosas más importantes en la vida de Veva. Veva era una poderosa guerrera de la oración que oraba todos los días por su familia aquí en la tierra y en el cielo. Qué hermoso legado ha dejado.
La acompañan en el cielo sus padres Pascual Hernandez Perez y Agustina Chavez Perez y sus hermanos Roberto, Candido, Guadalupe, Ramona, Mercedez, Petra, Esperanza y su hija, Janie Luna y su nieto, Jose "Toro" Loera y su mejor amiga, Felicitas "Fela" Porras y su sobrino, Francisco Cruz Perez.
Su esposo John, su hermano Manuel, sus tres hijos Estela, Melissa y Robert, sus seis nietos Alfredo, Olivia, John, Estella, Geneva y Lorenzo, sus 14 bisnietos y su querido perro Rocky la extrañarán profundamente. También la echarán de menos muchos sobrinos y su sobrina, Estela Pérez Chávez y la familia Porras. Siempre será recordada por aquellos que tuvieron la suerte de conocerla y alimentarse de ella.
En lugar de flores, su familia apreciaría mucho las donaciones al American Legion Post 275 en 2804 S Cockrell Hill Rd Dallas, Texas 75211. El American Legion Post 275 era muy querido por su familia, donde su marido John es legionario.
Se llevará a cabo una misa de entierro cristiano a las 10:00 a. m., el jueves 10 de abril de 2025 en la Catedral Santuario de la Virgen de Guadalupe ubicada en 2215 Ross Ave., Dallas, TX 75201. El servicio de compromiso será en el Cementerio Nacional de Dallas/Fort Worth a las 2:15 p. m., el 10 de abril de 2025.
