George Bauer, 83, of Gwinner, ND passed away peacefully following a brief battle with cancer and heart disease on Thursday, July 3, 2025 in Essentia Hospital, Fargo, ND surrounded by family.
George Allen Bauer was born September 18, 1941 in Oakes, ND to Edmund and Frances Bauer. He lived in Stirum most of his young life, graduating in 1960. In 1963, he married Judy Crocker. To this union two sons were born, David and Daniel, they later divorced.
During his life, George had several jobs which included driving truck for his dad, then working at Bobcat, where he was a welder, inspector, foreman, and truck driver.
In 1991, George married Barbara Dykstra and to this union their son Kevin was born. George always liked to travel, so after leaving Bobcat he traveled quite a bit, to all 50 States, 8 Canadian Providences, and 28 countries, going to Europe twice.
George was very mechanical and could always figure out how to fix and make things. He also enjoyed gardening, walking, listening to recorded music and live music, and going to auction sales. He was always happiest when he was working or driving.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife of 34 years Barbara; sons, Daniel (Justine) and Kevin; brother Raymond; sisters, Mary Ann Kunrath, Bonnie (Ronald) Bauman, Diane (Randy) Bond, Kathy (Dallas) Laney; brother-in-law Jim Peterson; along with aunts, uncles, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, family and friends.
