George Harrison McGahan, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Born on January 10, 1952, in Manistique, Michigan, he was the son of the late Theresia May and Floyd "Cub" Harrison McGahan.

George was a devoted husband, father, and proud Papa. He worked for the Town of Fremont for 25 years and was known by many for his dedication and work ethic.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Christine McGahan; his children, Tammy Tyndall and husband Jim, and Joe McGahan and partner Tina Dixon; and his cherished grandchildren, Katie Tyndall Blackman and husband Justin, Jamie Tyndall and partner Haylee Everett, Amanda McGahan, and Daniel McGahan.

George was the kind of man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. A true jack of all trades, if something was broken-George could fix it. There wasn't a piece of equipment he couldn't operate. He had a deep love for the outdoors and spent many days deer hunting, fishing, and crafting knives. Always by his side was his faithful dog, Lilly, who rarely left him.

A graveside service to celebrate George's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont, with Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. To honor George's laid-back spirit, casual attire is encouraged for all who attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George's memory to the American Red Cross, 600 N. George Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
