George Farid Riachy (Ritchey)
October 18, 1958 - July 10, 2025
With heavy hearts, the family of George Farid Riachy (Ritchey), 66, of Zanesville, Ohio, announces his peaceful passing to eternal life on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at The Ohio State Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital.
George was born on October 18, 1958, in Kaa-el-Rim, Zahle, Lebanon, to Farid K. Riachy and Sit-El-Ekhwi E. (Alam) Riachy. On August 13, 1987, he married Mona L. (Saliba) Riachy, and together they built a loving home, raising four sons with care and devotion. George held a deep and abiding love for his homeland, cherishing the values and traditions of Lebanon, which he proudly carried with him and lovingly passed on to his children.
A talented and hardworking multi-skilled tradesman, George was known for his ability to repair, build, and improve nearly anything. He applied his craftsmanship with precision and passion. Consistently motivated by a desire to resolve issues and assist others, George's work reflected his thoughtfulness and unwavering commitment to excellence. He was a faithful member of both Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church and St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where his spirituality was both nurtured and strengthened.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mona; his four sons: Farid, Elie, Ramy, and George, all of Zanesville; his cherished mother, Sit-El-Ekhwi Riachy of Zanesville; two brothers, Nadim (Lisa) Ritchey and Wadih (Rose) Riashi, both of Zanesville; and three sisters: Zahia (George) Kfoury of Kaa-el-Rim; Lyla (David) Merz of Columbus; and Ferial (Matthew) Piroch of Butler, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and extended family both locally and overseas.
In addition to his father, George was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, David Merz Jr., as well as several beloved aunts and uncles.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 935 East Main Street, Zanesville, Ohio, where the Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Stephen Ondrey as celebrant, followed by burial at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
