Gerald Ernest Cochran, 85, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away, Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was born in Mobile, Alabama, on August 11, 1939, to David Paul Cochran and Mary Lewis Cochran. He was married to Marietta Catherine Cochran for 61 years. Jerry moved to Pensacola and attended Warrington Elementary and Warrington Middle School. He went to Pensacola High School and was a drummer in the marching band. He then attended the University of Florida Forest Ranger School from 1959-1960, where he was given the nickname "Frank Buck". He joined the Army in 1961 and served three years. He was stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey, California. Marietta and Jerry had their first daughter, Kathy, in 1964 and moved to Pensacola, Florida shortly after. There, Jerry had a wonderful career in computer programming at Monsanto (Solutia) for many years. They were members of Little Flower Catholic Church and were involved in the school as well, where they sent their daughters. He was also a member of the City of Five Flags ski team, where he made many memories. Jerry had a passion for the Alabama Crimson Tide (Roll Tide!), computers, programming, his family and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, David Paul and Mary Lewis Cochran; four brothers, one sister, and his wife, Marietta Cochran.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Kathy Hayward (Mitchell Hayward) and Jennifer Cochran (Darryl Kast); his granddaughter, Kirstie Hill; and grandson, Kyle Hill (Rachel Hill).
Visitation will be Monday January 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Little Flower Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 PM. Reverend Father Jack Campbell will be officiant. Interment will be Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, Florida
