Gerald (Jerry) Del Secco was born on April 25th, 1940 in San Francisco, California to

Hazel and Louis Del Secco. Jerry had a younger brother named Dennis. Jerry's love of

sports started as a child, playing basketball, streetball and scrapping with the

neighborhood kids. Jerry graduated from Riordan High School and went on to obtain his

Master's degree in Education.

Jerry spent his career working for the San Francisco Unified School District, spending

most of his career as a teacher and coach at John O'Connell High School. Although he

dabbled in just about every subject, he loved teaching P.E. and would often joyfully

recount stories of the playful ribbing his students would give him. Apparently shouting

"Hey Del, you smell!" as they walked past his office was commonplace. Jerry loved

teaching and we can only imagine the countless lives he impacted throughout his 35

year-long career in education.

Jerry met the love of his life, Sandy, in 1965. They married and at the time of her

passing last year they had been married for over 57 years. Sandy and Jerry raised their

children Karen and Randy in San Carlos, California. Their home was one of much

laughter and love. Jerry was a beloved grandpa to his three grandchildren, Christina,

Rich, and Max.

Jerry was an avid sports fan, he and Sandy loved to root for their favorite teams, the SF

Giants, the 49ers and the Warriors. He loved going camping and boating with his

children and grandchildren. Jerry was a professional napper and could often be found

asleep on a raft in his pool. Although his wife ensured their home was spotless, Jerry

owned the garage...and it showed. He had two-story tall shelves full of every solvent

and paint a man could ever need and a seemingly endless supply of hammers. Jerry

was funny, charming and loved an oatmeal raisin cookie and a coke.

Jerry and Sandy loved hosting parties for family and friends. Their favorites were

Christmas and the 4th of July. Jerry loved family, friends and entertaining everyone

around him. To be in his presence was to laugh. He lived a long and happy life. He'll be

missed so much. We take solace in the fact that he's reunited with his love and we hope

they're dancing in Heaven.
