Gilbert Freeman Obituary

Gilbert H. "Gil" Freeman of Plymouth passed away on May 21, 2025, at the age of 77.
He was the beloved husband of Lois H. (Stiles) Freeman, his high school sweetheart and partner in life. Together, they built a loving home on Little Pond in Plymouth, where they raised their two sons. Gil is survived by his loving wife, Lois, son Todd Freeman and his wife Tracy of Plymouth, and his son Brad Freeman of Plymouth. Gil was the grandfather of Adam, Emily, Joshua, and Jack and the great-grandfather of Eliza. Gil was predeceased by his brother John Freeman.
Born in Plymouth on October 19, 1947, to the late Arthur Wesley Freeman, Jr. and Margaret Claire (Ottino), Gil was a lifelong resident of the community he loved. A graduate of Plymouth Carver Regional High School, he went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy Reserve. He was later called to active duty, stationed on the USS Hunley (AS-31) as a Photographer's Mate 2nd Class. The Hunley deployed overseas to Guam transiting the Panama Canal. Gil earned the National Defense Service Medal.
Following his military service, Gil began his career as a Planner with Commonwealth Electrical, which later became NSTAR, and remained a dedicated employee until his retirement.
Gil was most at peace at home on Little Pond, where he found joy in the quiet beauty of nature. His favorite days were Wednesdays, when his grandchildren-and often their friends-would gather for "pond days," enjoying time together on the water. He loved sailing and his rowboat. He was also an avid gardener and a spirited darts player.
Gil will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
