Gina Marie Faralli, of Chicago, IL, passed away on April 3, 2025.
Gina was born on October 24, 1976, and grew up in the rural small town of Farmington, IL. A true Scorpio, Gina was extremely determined. She wrote about growing up to become a tax attorney in the fifth grade. Despite being legally blind and never able to see the board, Gina made that dream come true after earning a degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University, and a Juris Doctor from DePaul University.
Gina built a distinguished career in various roles in Tax. After years in public accounting at two Big Four firms (PwC and EY) as well as time at ABN Amro Bank, she spent the last 15 years at Hyatt, ending up as the Senior Vice President of Global Tax.
Gina loved her job. She enjoyed traveling the world, meeting new people, and experiencing different cultures. She took pride in being an optimistic leader and investing in her team, selflessly giving countless extra hours to listen and coach. Gina's natural knack for storytelling made her distinctive; she could make even the most boring topics interesting and relatable.
Gina will be greatly missed by her many friends and family members for her enormous generosity, incredible sense of humor, and love of the finer things in life. When Gina talked to you, she engaged – she genuinely cared about what you had to say. You always knew where you stood with her. In addition, she was a talented cook, had impeccable taste, and was the best gift giver. If you received something from Gina, it was thoughtful and you felt loved.
Gina loved and adored her two cats, Jam Marie and Angela. As a devoted cat mom, Gina never met a four-legged friend she didn't like. She looked forward to her daily morning neighborhood walks, because she was sure to run into at least one of her favorite Roscoe Village dogs.
Gina lived the hell out of life and faced her diagnosis the same way with no fear, optimism, and total "badassery". When she could've easily given up, Gina not only fought her own battle, but made strides to help others and participated in trials for research.
Gina was preceded in death by her father, Bob Faralli. She is survived by her mother, Kay Faralli, sister, Angie Faralli, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Gina will be celebrated in a few private events that will continue themes in her life of helping others and her love of animals.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial donations to Feline Friends Chicago and Debbie's Dream Foundation in Gina's memory.
