Gladys Jane Eshelman, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 with family in Butler, Ohio.
Jane was born on March 8, 1938 to the late Pete and Helen (Knepper) Morris in Somerset, Pennsylvania. For many years, she worked at a fabric store, E & J Fabrics in Mansfield then ran her own fabric store in Shelby called Jane Fabrics. Then she retired from Sears as an appliance sales associate.
Her husband, George and her loved to camp and belonged to the Ohio Good Sam's Camping Club. Jane also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and the Richland Church of the Brethren. She will be missed by family and friends..
Those who will cherish her memories include her daughter, Julie (Joe) Heichelbech of Shelby, Ohio; her four grandchildren: Randi (Brian) Dorion of Butler, Ohio, Cassie (Drew) Harwood of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Mindy (Zac) Tuttle of Shelby, Ohio and Nicholas (Caitlin Jordan) Claytor; her eight great grandchildren: Devin and Savannah Dorion, Tripp and Jett Harwood, Maddie and Charlotte Tuttle, Maxwell and Cooper Claytor; her sisters: Sandy Kleman of Shelby, Ohio, Peg (Alvin) Lybarger of Shelby, Ohio, Penny (Jim) Ludban of Greenwich, Ohio; her brothers:Dan (Stephanie) Morris of Shelby, Ohio, Doug (Carolyn) Morris of Wooster, Ohio, Victor (Becky) Morris of Shelby, Ohio, Blair (Evelyn) Morris of Crestline, Ohio and Peter (Karen) Morris of Applecreek, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Eshelman, whom she married on January 24, 1955; her infant daughter, Pamela Jane Eshelman; her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Deb Eshelman; and her brothers: Eugene Morris, Don Morris and Jimmy Morris.
Friends and family may come to honor her life on Monday, July 7, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory. A funeral service will follow starting at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. A burial will follow the funeral service at Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given in Jane's memory to the Humane Society of Richland County, 3025 Park Ave W, Ontario, Ohio 44906.
