Gladys Marie Ward Howell, 86, a longtime resident of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Dimmitt, Texas. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Restored Christian Fellowship Church, located at 303 W. Etter, Dimmitt, Texas, at 1:00 PM with Samantha Schaffer officiating. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas.

Gladys was born on November 20, 1938, in Idalou, Texas, to Marvin and Stellamae Ward. She grew up in Idalou with her two siblings, George and Beth. She later met and fell in love with her late husband, George Howell. They were married in February of 1958 and welcomed three children to their family. Gladys worked for Rhoads Memorial Library as the librarian for 39 years, retiring at 75 years young. Gladys was also known for keeping scores for all teams that played at the Dimmitt Baseball field for more than 25 years. She and her husband attended most of the Dimmitt Bobcat football games for many years. Gladys' presence, smile, and community involvement will be missed by many.

Gladys is leaving behind 2 living children, Greg Howell and Mary-Anne Hardegree; 10 grandchildren, and a plethora of great grandchildren and 3 additional great-great grandchildren.

Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Stella Mae, her husband, George Howell, and her son, Jeffery Howell.
