Glen Albert Pietan was a cherished soul whose love for his family, farming, and community knew no bounds. Born on October 26, 1961, in New Hampton, Iowa, to Harlan and Isabel (Lauke) Pietan, Glen was the youngest of three children and grew up with a profound appreciation for the simple joys of life. His early education in Elma laid the foundation for his strong work ethic, which he carried with him to Cresco, graduating with the Class of 1981. A year of trade school further honed his skills, but it was the call of the land that truly captured Glen's heart, leading him to a fulfilling life of farming on the family's century-old homestead in rural Elma.
Glen's life took a turn of fortune during a visit to see his dad at a nursing facility in Charles City, where he met the love of his life, Lisa Frein. His interest was immediate and their connection deep, leading to marriage on April 9, 1988, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Nashua, IA. Together, they nurtured a family of four children, instilling in them the values of hard work, compassion, and the importance of family and faith.
A man of deep convictions and boundless love, Glen was an exemplary figure in his community. His role as a youth softball coach was just one of the many ways he expressed his AMAZING love for kids. His faithful involvement in church and his unwavering commitment to various boards within the community showcased his dedication to making a positive impact on those around him.
Glen's children remember their father as a man whose heart swelled with pride and joy at the mention of his grandchildren.
His legacy continues through his loving wife, Lisa, of 37 years; his daughters, Elizabeth Rose Isabel(Kyle) Balk of Cresco, IA, Emily Chris Pietan(Austin Klimesh) of Elma, IA; sons, Edward Glen(Aimee) of Iowa Falls, IA and Emmitt of Riceville, IA; 7 grandchildren with ages: Owen(14) and Killian(10) Irvin, Braxten(10) and Isabella(7) Balk, Sawyer(5), Ella(5), and Harper(3) Pietan; Glen's brothers, Robert (Mary) of Highlandville, IA, and Mark of Elma, IA, also survive him, along with a community that felt his influence in countless ways.
Described by those who knew him best as loving and passionate, Glen's absence will be deeply felt by all. A man who found profound happiness in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was a family trip to Deadwood, SD, or the daily rhythms of farm life, Glen Albert Pietan lived a life that was rich in experiences and abundant in love. His legacy will continue to flourish in the fields he tended, the lives he touched, and the family he adored.
