Glenn Broome Obituary

Glenn Broome, age 83, resident of Summerville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at his residence.
Mr. Broome, son of the late Oscar Wilburn Broome and Louise Willie Mae Harris Broome, was born December 7, 1941. He was a member of Shattuck Blvd Church of Christ in LaFayette, Georgia. Mr. Broome was retired from Public Works of LaFayette where he faithfully worked for over 20 years. He enjoyed landscaping, gardening, and upkeeping his property and vehicles. He enjoyed going to Summerville Trade Day buying and selling. Mr. Broome also enjoyed taking trips with his family, going to his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his dogs, particularly Bella. While at home, he looked forward to being on his CB Radio (Walker was his handle) and also watching boxing on television. The family remembers him as a good husband and father – one who loved God and his family immensely with his wife saying "He was a good boss."
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Broome; siblings, Bobby Broome, Harold Broome, and Carolyn Penson; and grandson, Cody Daniel.
Mr. Broome is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Dean Broome; two daughters, Peggy (Chuck) Bohannon and Kim (Danny) Wyatt; four sons, Glenn Broome, Jr., Michael Broome, Nick Broome, and James (Kelli) Broome; 10 grandchildren, Erica, Emily, Shawn, Micah, Ireland, Easton, Courtney, Ashton, Kaylie, and Gracyn; ten great-grandchildren, Braden, Kailyn, Braxxton, Laiden, Brantley, Kneeland, Cru, Hendon, Archer, and Stiles; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home LaFayette Chapel, 1779 North Main Street, LaFayette, Georgia on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, 3 p.m. with Pastor Tommy Pettyjohn officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 4-8 p.m.
