Glenn E. McDonald, 88, of Trinity Road, Junction, WV, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at UPMC Western Maryland Hospital in Cumberland, MD.
Born on June 12, 1936 in Junction, WV on the family homeplace, he was a son of the late Frank Wright and Sarah Ardith (Markwood) McDonald. He also was preceded in death by five brothers, Lloyd, Floyd, Allen, Kenneth and Sheldon McDonald and a sister, Mary Katherine "Butch" Keplinger.
Mr. McDonald was a retired life long farmer in Hampshire County, WV. His heart was in the land and the farm that he so dearly loved and toiled over. He was also a very family oriented man, and was content to spend his days at his home, enjoying the love of his family.
Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Mary Elizabeth (Marasco) McDonald; his children, Margaret Elizabeth Fishel and husband Eric of Paw Paw, WV, Glenn Wilbur McDonald of Shanks, WV and Rosanne McDonald-Silvers and husband Paul of Berkeley Springs, WV; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Allen Lear, Jospeh Paul Silvers, Isaac Raymond Silvers and Teresa Grace Silvers and two great grandchildren, Zayden Lear and Jackson Lear. Also surviving are three brothers, Frank McDonald, Jr. of Romney, WV, Warren Dugget of Prince George, VA and Lewis "Sonny" High of Purgitsville, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be private for the family.
A graveside service will be conducted at the Arnold Cemetery, Junction, WV, on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Judy officiating. All family and friends are invited to attend in remembering the life of Glenn McDonald.
The Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
