Glenna Lee Lerner passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the age of 77. She was born on December 29, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan to Doyle and Margie (Scott) Meredith.
Her greatest joy was being a mother and, especially, a grandmother. She loved having Friday night pizza nights with her grandkids, taking endless walks to the Dollar Store with them, encouraging them to eat unlimited amounts of junk food, and palming them a few $5 bills at every visit. She loved going out to eat, chicken tacos, black coffee, her two dogs; Rusty and Charlie, playing Candy Crush, reading Fern Michaels books, watching the Detroit Tigers and, unfortunately, the Green Bay Packers. She had an intense phobia of butter, that her family found great joy in teasing her about.
Glenna was a dedicated, hard-working and compassionate soul. She worked at Adult Learning Systems for 25 years, serving those in the community with mental illness until she was over 70 years old. She was known for her sense of humor, her infectious laughter, and her interesting love of music, especially The Notorious B.I.G and other old school rap artists. During her short stay at Fraser Villa, she would often be seen bopping her head to "Big Poppa" in the lunchroom. She had a passion for making the lives of others better. Her generosity knew no limits. If you visited her, chances are you left with some kind of gift. She once tried to give her coat to a waitress just because she liked it. She loved to spend money on jewelry, odd trinkets, and at her favorite store, Bath and Body Works. To say she was obsessed with Bath and Body Works lotion is an understatement. There was never a shortage of it in her home, and she would often gift it to friends and family.
She is survived by her three children: Mindy (Matthew) Ratajczak, Albert Lerner, and Michael (Jessica Corner) Lerner; grandchildren: Allison (Matthew Laurence) Shields, Emily (Ben) Keehn, Ryan (Kaitlyn Smith) Shields, Nathaniel (Austin Vanwie) Lalonde, a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson due later this year. She is also survived by her brothers: Doyle (Kathy) Meredith, Roger (Hendrika) Meredith, Wayne Meredith, Bruce Meredith, Joseph Meredith, and Lee Meredith. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, friends, and her best friend for 47 years, JoAnn Hofmann.
At Glenna's request, there will be no formal services. However, in her honor: Be happy on purpose. Go outside and feel the sun on your face. Stretch. Read a book. Call a friend. Count your blessings. Drink coffee. Eat the best slice of pizza of your life. Breathe. Express gratitude. Laugh. Love your people fiercely. Forgive. And, most important, love Jesus.
Glenna's family wishes to thank the staff of Fraser Villa and Hospice of Michigan for their love, kindness, compassion and exemplary care the last few months.

I am so sorry to learn of Glenna´s passing. You lose touch with those you you worked with for many years. Glenna had a witty sense of humor and would often tell the corniest jokes. Sorry for your loss. I will remember her fondly.
