Glenn Williams – loving husband of 62 years, devoted father, proud 30-year veteran of the US Air Force and Air National Guard and unwavering St. Louis Cardinals fan - passed away (peacefully) in his home in Redmond, OR on May 23rd at the age of 84. He is greatly missed and forever loved by his wife, Patricia Cieloha Williams, his sons Tony and Scott, and his grandchildren, Ryan, Brianna, Joshua and Jacob. He is survived by his two younger brothers, Jack and Bob Williams whom he cherished.
Born in St. Louis in 1941 to Viola and Roscoe Williams, he exuded the midwestern characteristics of hard work and responsibility and always doing the right thing. He was full of wisdom and humility and great stories sharing generously with his family and friends and always adding a touch of humor and a big laugh.
Serving in both the US Air Force and the Oregon Air National Guard he lived out his patriotic values forging lifelong friendships. At the Portland Air National Guard Base, he loved nothing more than being around fighter jets and the men and women who proudly served this nation. One of his greatest joys was when he and his son, Scott, served together in the 142nd Wing of the Oregon Air National Guard. He also celebrated those in his extended family who served careers with distinction – his "grand-nephews", Travis, who completed his service as a Captain in the US Army and US Air Force Colonel Brandon Cieloha.
To know Glenn was to know the beautiful love story of he and Patricia's marriage. Whether travelling to the Oregon Coast or Whidbey Island in their motorhome or building their home in Bend, picnicking with their grandchildren or cheering on the Beavers their genuine fondness for each other and lifelong partnership was an inspiration to all those around them.
Family and friends will be celebrating his life and all that he meant to us on August 10th at 1:00 PM at McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon. In remembrance of his military service, we will be joined by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
We invite those whose lives have been touched by Glenn and Patricia to join us in honoring and remembering a life lived with honor, kindness, and devotion to the people (and teams that he loved.
