Mrs. Glossie Malline Crawley Leake, age ninety-two, departed this life and entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Roxboro Assisted Living. She was born September 1, 1932 in Person County to the late Henry and Minnie Crawley and was a member of Hyco Zion Baptist Church.
Glossie was educated in the Person County School System and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Winston-Salem Teacher's College (now Winston-Salem State University) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She received her Master's of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland in 1972. She was employed by the Calvert County Public School System in 1960 until her retirement in 1991.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Auley Ross Leake, Jr.; and nine sisters and four brothers.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, one brother, Curtis Crawley (Cora) of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many friends.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00am at the Hyco Zion Baptist Church, 996 Concord Church Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27574, with the Reverend Stanley Kearney, Pastor, officiating and the Reverend Kurl Brandon, Associate Pastor at the Greater Brandon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Alton, Virginia 24520, providing the eulogy. Burial will follow at the Hyco Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her body will lie in state at the church from 10:00am to 11:00am, one hour prior to the service.
Visitation and a Public Viewing are scheduled for Friday, July 18, 2025 at the funeral home from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, with the family present during the last hour from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.
