Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 299 Union Hill Drive, Forsyth, Georgia. Pastor Rufus J. Whatley officiating. Burial in Forsyth City Cemetery, Newton Drive, Forsyth, Georgia. Service is scheduled to be Streamed Live on our Facebook Page.
Public viewing will be Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 2-6 pm. Keep the family in prayer.
Mr. Gordon Sherard Dewberry, known by many as Sherard, was born on May 24, 1973 to the parentage of Ms. Annie King Coggins and the late Gordon Dewberry Jr. He was called from labor to reward on July 3, 2025
He attended Atlanta Public School and Mary Persons High School. He was a member of the class of 1991.After high school he enlisted briefly in the US Navy. Sherard also attended Central Georgia Technical College majoring in Electrical Systems Technology. For many years he worked on the road as a cooling tower technician. He later changed his career path to become an electrician. He worked at Metro Powers for many years learning his craft and then decided to branch out on his own and start his own business.
He enjoyed working as umpire & referee for softball, baseball and football all across Georgia. He touched many lives on and off the field. His favorite things to do was hanging out with his family & friends, especially the grandkids, that he loved with all his heart. He also enjoyed playing golf and recently he started gardening and poultry farming
On June 24,2000, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Veronica Dumas-Dewberry. They recently celebrated their 25th anniversary with family and friends
He is preceded in death by fathers, Gordon Dewberry Jr & Joe Coggins, Children- Jasmine Dumas and Gordonvion Dewberry & Grandparents, Gordon Dewberry Sr & Alice and Clifford King.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Veronica Dumas-Dewberry; grandmother, Annie Mae Dewberry; mother, Annie King Coggins; children, Quinterrius Dewberry, Taniyah Dewberry, Kalisa Dumas, Shaitera Shannon (Dee), Ashley Walker and Darrius Herring. sisters, Joanne Coggins, Saesha Dewberry Taylor (Cameron); brothers, Brandon Coggins & Quentin Dewberry; 7 grandchildren; mother's and father's- in law, Minnie and Clifford Smith & Roy & Charlotte Daniely; sister in law, Shakira Rice (Billy); brothers in law, Rory & Roy Daniey ; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
