Gregory Alan Centers, age 58, of Cumberland Gap, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 12, 2025. He was born July 15, 1966, the cherished son of Richard Alan Centers and Betty June Russell, both of Cumberland Gap, TN.
Greg was saved at an early age at Underwood Grove Baptist Church. As a devoted member of the Northside Baptist Church, he found solace and strength in his faith. His passions included fishing, gardening, cherishing the beauty of nature, and listening to music. He was an avid supporter of University of Tennessee football, a true fan who took great joy in every game. Greg had an interest in horror movies and enjoyed sharing those thrilling experiences with others. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with love and guidance.
Professionally, Greg was known for his strong work ethic and dedication, always striving to provide for his family. He actively engaged in his career while ensuring that he was present in the lives of his loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Dora Centers; grandparents, Letha and Woodrow Patterson; stepfather, Whitt Russell; and nephew, Dale Bayless.
In addition to his parents, left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mindi Centers, being together for 29 years; his children, Brittany Diane Centers age 34 of Middlesboro, KY, Lindsey Brooke Centers age 31 (Malcolm Whitt) of Middlesboro, KY, Michael-Wayne Foreman age 30 of Rosehill, VA (Dee Britton), and Payton Dora-Leigh Centers age 18 of Cumberland Gap, TN (Joel Threlkeld); grandchildren, Sophia Evans, Coaltyn Knutson, Xzavion Whitt, Jackson Brock, and he was blessed to meet his newest grandson, Sawyer Threlkeld, just ten days before his passing; brother, Chris (Bridgett) Centers; sister, Autumn Williams; special aunts, Jane Patterson and Daphine Sandufer; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Claiborne County EMS, Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Sheriff’s Department Chaplain Steve Ousley; the Claiborne County Rescue Squad, and all who provided assistance and support during our time of grief.
Graveside services for Gregory Alan Centers will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the Kibert Cemetery in Cumberland Gap, TN, with Pastor Glenn Hoskins presiding. Pallbearers will be Austin Williams, Christian Williams, Donnie Williams, Tyler Centers, Joel Threlkeld and Malcolm Whitt.
