Gregory Wayne "Greg" Gibson, age 62, of Sheridan, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. Born on December 9, 1962, in Coeburn, Virginia, Greg was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many throughout his journey.
Greg is survived by his dear mother Sula Gibson, his devoted wife of 30 years, Gwendolyn Gibson, and their cherished children: Stephanie Gibson, Greg (Jillian) Gibson, Jr., Tristan (Dawn Jedlink) Wilson, Austin (Taylor) Gibson, and Brianna Kossman. Greg was a proud grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Tyler Barrier, Hayden Hayes, Riley Moore, Anneliese Rodriguez, Peyton Gibson, Sabastian Rodriguez, Kinley Wilson, Lily Gibson, and Arabelle Rodriguez. His family was his greatest treasure, and he dedicated his life to nurturing and supporting them.
He is also survived by his loving siblings: sister Annie (Rudy) Curry, brother Jeff (Melissa) Gibson, and brother Randy (Dawn Wilson) Gibson. Greg had a special bond with his family that was evident in the way he lived his life, always ready to lend a helping hand and share a laugh.
In his professional life, Greg worked as a Logistics Manager for a lighting company, where he was known for his dedication and expertise. He was a problem-solver who took pride in fixing things-whether they were household items or logistical challenges at work. This hands-on approach extended beyond his career and into his hobbies, where he found joy in spending time with his family and tinkering with various projects.
Greg attended the Harvest New Beginnings Church in Oswego, Illinois. His faith was an integral part of his life, guiding him through the ups and downs he faced.
Beyond his family and work, Greg was a dog lover, and he is survived by his beloved dogs, Bosco and Kodi. He had previously shared his home with several other dogs, including Bing, Vixen, Sampson, Zuriel, Jack, and Isreal, who have all crossed the rainbow bridge.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Gibson, and his beloved dogs, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at GABEL-DUNN FUNERAL HOME, 333 West Church Street, Sheridan, IL.
