Full Obituary
Gregory A. "Greg" Pingsterhaus, age 91, of Aviston, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Evercare Nursing Home in Breese. He was born December 19, 1933, in Breese Township, a son of the late William and Agnes (nee Wellinghoff) Pingsterhaus.
Greg married the love of his life, Florence (née Thole) on October 22, 1957, at St. Rose Catholic Church. They shared 67 devoted years of marriage, and Florence survives him in Aviston. Together, they built a loving family and a life rooted in faith, hard work, and community. Greg is also survived by his children, Sharon (Ken) Pollmann of Belleville, Jeffrey (Jill) Pingsterhaus of Germantown, Randy (Denise) Pingsterhaus of Breese, and Duane Pingsterhaus of Aviston; grandchildren, Kyle Pollmann, Brock (Erin) Pollmann, Jordan (Carrie) Pollmann, Matt (Jenna) Pingsterhaus, Vanessa (Dan) Quinn, Jennifer (Chad) Jansen, and Greg (special friend, Shari) Pingsterhaus; great-grandchildren, Lane, Tessa, Riley, Holden, Jolie, Donavon, Emma, Lucas, Alayna, Autumn, Annalise, and Grace; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Patricia "Pat" Pingsterhaus of Dodge City, KS, Gerald (Jane) Thole of St. Rose, Lavern (Eileen) Thole of St. Rose, Denis (Mary) Thole of Highland, and Diane Thole of Trenton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Alphonse Pingsterhaus, Dorothy (Paul) Rensing, Edwin (Catherine) Pingsterhaus, Wilbert Pingsterhaus, Edward Pingsterhaus, Frances Pingsterhaus, Pauline (Dale) Holtmann, Robert Pingsterhaus, and Joseph Pingsterhaus; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Martha (nee Hilmes) Thole.
Greg dedicated his life to dairy farming, a vocation he carried out with great care and pride. A man of faith and fellowship, he was a longtime member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers, the Bartelso Knights of Columbus Council 4745, and the Clinton County Farm Bureau.
He found joy in life's simple pleasures-playing cards, traveling, and driving tractors. Greg had a deep love for watching wrestling and, above all, cherished every moment spent with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life, and his faithful dog Fritz was always by his side.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese. A private funeral service will be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Bernard Parish, Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, or Clinton County Humane Society and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
