Gwendolyn D. "Gwenie" Krupke
Age 93, of Monroe, died Monday, July 14, 2025, at SSM Monroe Hospice Home. Gwenie was born on March 7, 1932 in Monroe, the daughter of Ralph and May Etta (Morton) Shaffer. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1950. Gwenie and Lloyd L. Leuenberger were married on March 1, 1952. The couple farmed in Sylvester Township and Gwenie was employed at First National Bank for over 40 years until retiring. She married Wesley Krupke in 2006.
She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church in Monroe and also was active in D.A.R. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, making various crafts, and in her younger years, camping with Lloyd. In her later years, Gwenie enjoyed feeding her backyard squirrels.
Gwenie is survived by a son, Kirt (Jo) Leuenberger of Monroe; four grandchildren, Dustin (Elyse) Leuenberger, Kateri "Kati" Leuenberger, Chad Colvin, Chris (Jessie) Colvin; greatgrandchildren, Reese and Kaylynn Pulfrey; and Wesley's extended family. She was preceded in death by husbands, Lloyd in 1997, Wes in 2024; daughter, Denise Colvin; and brother, Eldon Shaffer.
Private family funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Rev. Stacy Cavanaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund will be established in Gwenie's name. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
