Gwendolyn K. Shearburn, 83, of San Antonio TX, formerly of Sterling died on Thursday July 3, 2025. Gwendolyn was born April 20, 1942 in Sterling the daughter of Lavern and Winifred (Conrady) Machaell. She married David Shearburn on July 29, 1959 in Sterling IL. David preceded her in death on December 15, 2019. Gwendolyn was a life long member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sterling. She loved dogs, particularly her baby, Meggie, was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening and traveling with her family. Gwen retired from a career in nursing from CGH Medical Center in Sterling, and operated a small antique business with her husband.
Survivors include her children Cathryn Halpin of San Antonio Texas, Mike (Michele) Shearburn of Bolingbrook Illinois, Chris (Sybil) Shearburn of Huntsville. Alabama; six grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Halpin, and Sarah, Michael, Andrew, and Sophie Shearburn; and six great-grandchildren, Xavier, Samuel, Roman, Joshua, Thaddeus, and Theoden Halpin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David, son-in-law John Halpin, and grandson Kyle Halpin.
Visitation will be 5PM-7PM Monday July 14, 2025 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation in Sterling. Funeral services will be 1PM Tuesday July 15, 2025 at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, with pastor Jeff Coester of The Big Red Church, officiating, burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
