Harold Leslie Woempner, 81, of Indianapolis passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Indiana University Methodist Hospital. Harold was born on December 31, 1943, in Beech Grove, IN to Norman and Lucille (Meyer) Woempner.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Harold owned and operated dump trucks that were used to move sand and gravel in many road construction projects in the Indianapolis area. He was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church, a fan of auto racing, including the Indianapolis 500, baseball, and traveling, especially to the Caribbean and Cancun.
Harold is survived by his wife of 51 years, Delores (Kemper) Woempner; daughters: Prudence Leslie (Robert) Morrow and Myra "Priscilla" (Matt) Otto; grandchildren: Caleb Robert Morrow, Jacob James Morrow, Penelope Leslie Morrow, Beatrice Delores Otto and Bernice Grace Otto; sister, Arlene Holland; sister-in-law, Myra Woempner; godson: Jason Woempner; several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Edward "Bud" Woempner and godson, Eric Woempner.
Funeral services for Harold will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church, 6630 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46203. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Harold's family will receive friends on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, 5950 East Thompson Rd., Indianapolis and again from 10:00 am until the time of the service Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. John Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
