Harvey Roy Titsworth was born on December 13, 1928, in Thrall, Texas, the son of Elmer and Jewel (Hill) Titsworth. He loved his childhood growing up in Texas and could always tell a good story about his early adventures. After completing his education, he served in the United States Army being stationed in northern Canada and serving in the Korean Conflict.
While on leave in Washington, D.C., he attended a dance where he met the love of his life Kathryn “Kathy” Ann Peterson. The couple began their courtship the next day and married on August 28, 1954 in Benson, MN. They lived in various locations around the country before finally settling in Deerfield, Illinois, where Harvey was a Marketing and Research executive with Amoco Oil Company. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol at Wilmot, WI, along with his daughters, for over 25 years making many lifelong friends. Following retirement, Harvey and Kathy moved to a home on Lake Minnewaska to be closer to family.
Harvey was a kind and gracious man who always encouraged others and tried to make those he talked to feel special. He and Kathy enjoyed traveling together with highlights being their trips to Hawaii and Indonesia. They also enjoyed frequent trips back to Texas to visit family he loved so much and to enjoy the Bluebonnets each spring. He also looked forward to the annual Lund reunion each year and visiting with his Minnesota relatives.
Harvey was a great story teller and although they could be long, they were always interesting. Harvey treasured his family above all else and they were the most important part of his life. Following Kathy’s death in 2021, Harvey continued living in his home on the lake before moving to Holly Ridge Manor Assisted Living in Starbuck. and most recently in the memory care unit of the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. Harvey’s family is thankful for the excellent care he received at both facilities.
Harvey passed away June 17, 2025, in the memory care unit of Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. He was 96 years old.
He is survived by his two daughters, Joan (Jerry) Kerkvliet of Glenwood and Susan Zaic of Starbuck; two granddaughters, Breeana (Darren) Braegelman of Belgrade and Megan (Greg) Galarneau of Alexandria; two great grandchildren, Gauge Harvey Galarneau and Chloe Kathryn Galarneau both of Alexandria and sister-in-law, Janet Peterson of Minneapolis.
