Hazel Yvette Henderson Lockett was born December 23, 1954, to the parentage of the late Cecil Henderson, Sr. and Johnnie Mae Henderson Davis. She answered the Master's call on Tuesday, July I, 2025. She was preceded in death by her siblings, sister, Betty Ann Henderson and brothers, Robert Henderson and Randy Henderson.
Yvette grew up in a loving home with hard working parents that provided a true sense of security. Her family were all members of St. James Baptist Church where she received her early Christian training. She remained strong in her faith and found serving the Lord at different churches help her to grow spiritually. Her last membership was with Oak Grove Holiness Church where she faithfully served and fellowshipped under the leadership and guidance of Bishop B.F. McKibben. She remained there under the leadership of Elder Jeannie Davis.
She attended Hubbard Elementary School and graduated from Mary Persons High School class of 1973. She married John Wesley Locket and to this union one daughter was born, Tyniski Shuwan Lockett. Yvette worked in the textile mills and retired from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.
Fourteen years ago Tyniski suffered a medical episode and Yvette became her daughter's primary care giver. The love of mother and daughter grew stronger as they grew closer and closer. There is a saying that, "the leaning tree is not always the first one to fall" After Yvette suffered a medical episode herself they were placed together at Pruitt Healthcare. Still together in the same room their bond grew stronger.
Yvette will always be remembered for her strong work ethic, caring spirit and bright smile.
Left to cherish precious memory is her daughter: Tyniski Lockett, Brother: Cecil(Juanita) Henderson, Jr., of Forsyth, Georgia, Nieces Sherronia(Jonathan) King, Atlanta, Georgia, Marrissa Henderson and Monya Henderson of Atlanta, Georgia, Nephew: Roderick(April)Henderson of LaGrange, Georgia. Bonus Niece: Niyoka Moreland and Bonus Nephew: Terry Hubbard, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia God daughters: Bridgett Middleton, Seven Henry, and Shawanda Clements of Forsyth. Georgia. Special friend Mattie Sue Walton and family. Her precious cat, Miracle. Other extended family and friends.
