Hazel Marie Ramey passed away April 26, 2025, at The Ponca City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was 99 years of age.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in the Saint Francis Catholic Church with Father Carson Krittenbrink officiating. Internment will follow in the Newkirk City Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Miller Stahl Funeral Home of Newkirk, Oklahoma.
Hazel was born April 25, 1926, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Henry L Wathor and Flossie B (Smith) Wathor. She was raised in the Peckham community and attended 8 years at Grant School and graduated from Newkirk High School in 1943. She continued her education in nursing and graduated in 1946 from St Joseph’s School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas. She married Merl Ramey Jr on February 1, 1947, and they made their home on the Midgley Ranch where Merl Jr was employed. The couple later moved to their current home on Canteen Road. She was a member of the Sweet Water Club and Altar Society of Newkirk. She was known for her sugar cookies and homemade ice cream and making Christmas candy to share with others. She enjoyed doing embroidery and going to garage sales. Her family was her world, and she doted on each grandchild.
Hazel is survived by her three children, Sharon LeValley (Ed), Jerry Ramey, and Steven Ramey; grandchildren, Scott LeValley, Chad LeValley (Jill), Lori Justus (Talby), Amber Sturgeon (Scott), JR (Staci), Chris Wood (Darren); great grandchildren, Madalyn Levalley, Chase LeValley, Kialee LeValley, TJ Justus, Makenna Justus, Holton Justus (Cassidi), Skyler Sturgeon, Paisley Sturgeon, Bentley Sturgeon, Tristan Ramey, Tynlee Ramey, Tripper Ramey, Danika Duncan, Drake Duncan, Grady Wood, Garner Wood, Reese Wood; and her great great granddaughter, Charlee Justus.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Marvin Wathor.
Memorial contributions can be made to Ponca City Opportunity Center, or Saint Francis Catholic Church in Newkirk, Oklahoma.
