Beloved husband and father Hector Arce was called to the Lord on Thursday, July 31 st at the age of 81. Born and raised in
Laredo, TX he graduated from St. Joseph's Academy, and soon after joined the Armed Forces of the United States of America. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant in the 3 rd Marine Division.
He served in the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968. He was a survivor of the Tet Offensive Battle, during which he was stationed in Da Nang and Dong Ha. He then did 2 years of reserve duty and was Honorably Discharged from the US Marine Corps in 1970. He went on to become a Land Manager for Sanchez O'Brian and Lewis Energy Group until his retirement in 2012.
Throughout his life, he found pleasure spending time at the ranch with his family and friends while enjoying all type of wildlife. He was an avid outdoorsman who frequently loved to hunt and fish. He was also a devote Catholic and enjoyed spending time with Monsignor Morgan Rowsome, Sister Miriam Fidelis, and Father Noel Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rogerio Arce and Dolores Torres Arce; his brother Edgar Arce, Rogerio Arce Jr, and Javier Arce; his sisters Arabella Arce Coulston and Rosita Arce Critchlow. He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years Sylvia Rogerio Arce, five of his siblings, Gracie (Robert) Lee, Lucile (Jack) Lowery, Miguel (Florence) Arce, Judith (Robert) Jordan, and Homero (Oralia) Arce, He is also survived by his four loving daughters, Lisa M. Arce, Lucila M. (Adam) Arce Heath, Laura M. (Jayson) Arce Caldwell and Elsa A. (Ricardo) Arce Garcia. He was also a loving father-figure to his stepchildren Robert and Leslie A. Gonzalez
He was a proud grandfather to his eight grandchildren: Arissa B. (Federico) Munguia, Arabella L. Chamerlain, Ricardo A. Garcia, Hector A. Garcia, Ximena A. Caldwell, Robbie Gonzalez, Rachel Gonzalez, and Ryan Gonzalez. Hector had four great-grandchildren along with other step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Arce family wishes to thank all Staff Members of the VA Clinic along with Russell Wise NP. They also wish to give a sincere thank you to Dr. Nwanze, Dr. Ruttiman, the Nursing Staff from Interventional Radiology, the Nursing Staff from Prep and Hold, as well as Dr. Elsa Canales and Michael Tijerina NP for all the care given to our beloved Hector.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A rosary and prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. The chapel will reopen at 7:00 am on Thursday, August 7, 2025 to depart at 9:00 am for a Funeral Mass at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Holy mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at the Veterans Hero's Hall located at the Laredo City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roberto Gonzalez, Jr., Roberto Vera, Carlos Martinez, Jr., Homero Perez, Adam C. Heath, Jayson S. Caldwell, Ricardo Garcia and Federico Munguia, IV.
Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard and United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.
Rest in peace dear Hector. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
