Helen Cook Obituary

Helen Johnson Cook, 89, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, in
Ormond Beach, Florida. Born on February 5, 1936, in Daytona Beach.
Helen was a lifelong resident, living on the same block in Ormond Beach,
Florida, for most of her life. Helen graduated from Seabreeze High School
in 1955 and met Jack at a Gyspy Tour motorcycle rally in Tampa, Florida.
Helen and Jack were married in 1956 and were lifelong soulmates for 69
years until Jack's recent passing. Helen worked in banking at Commercial
Credit, First Federal, Security First, and United Southern Bank. Helen loved
her banking career, but it was second to her family, which was always the
most important thing in her life. Helen's hobbies included bowling,
collecting Barbies, and her passion for flower gardening. Helen is survived
by her sons, Jack and Tim Cook, daughter Tammy Wachtel, daughter-in-
law Glenda Cook, and son-in-law Steve Wachtel. Her grandchildren JR and
Dylan Cook, Ashleigh Wachtel Via and Kelsy Wachtel, and great-
grandchildren Georgia, Isabella, Elizabeth Cook, Julianna and Abigail Via.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, George and Thelma Johnson,
her brother Bobby Johnson, and her sister Clara Johnson Messer.
A gathering of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, the 29th, from
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood
Ave., Daytona Beach.
