Helen Fry, 68, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, at The James in Columbus, Ohio. Born on February 4, 1957, at Fairview Park Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, to Helen Sue Plumley and Cecil Plumley, Helen lived a life full of love, devotion, and joy.
Raised in Brunswick, Ohio, Helen graduated from high school in 1975. In 1977, she married the love of her life, David Fry, and together they embarked on an adventure during David's service in the U.S. Navy from 1977 to 1988. Their journey took them across the country, but in 1988, they settled in Fredericktown, Ohio, to raise their family. Helen poured her heart into being a devoted Mom to her son, David Fry Jr. (DJ), (born 1979), and later a beloved Grams to her grandchildren, Isabelle (11), Kaitlyn (9), and Jonathan (7), who live in McKinney, Texas, with their parents, David Jr. and his wife, Nicole (married 2012).
Helen's big heart touched everyone she met, and she was loved deeply in return. She served her community as a secretary at Fredericktown First Presbyterian Church, as Office Manager at Waste Alternatives, and as an independent bookkeeper. Yet, her proudest roles were always as Mom and Grams, offering unconditional love to her child and grandchildren.
A passionate lover of butterflies, Helen supported Ackerman Preserve, a tranquil haven filled with God's creatures and natural wonders. Her life's philosophy was to live each day as if it were her last, holding fast to hope and embracing the promise of tomorrow.
Helen is survived by her husband, David Fry; her son, David Fry Jr. (DJ), and his wife, Nicole; her grandchildren, Isabelle, Kaitlyn, and Jonathan; and countless friends and loved ones whose lives she touched and her brother, Cecil Plumley (born 1959). She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Sue and Cecil Plumley.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, beginning at 3:30pm at the Ackerman Nature Preserve (785 Salem Ave. Ext, Fredericktown, Ohio 43019). A celebration of life service will follow, beginning at 4pm with Pastor Nancy Rezennaugh and Pastor Pam Gillett officiating. After the service, all are welcome to join the family at the Fredericktown First Presbyterian Church for a reception (17 S. Main St. Fredericktown, Ohio 43019.
