Helen Marie Girard, born June 11, 1964, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home on June 27, 2025, at the age of 61, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Helen is survived by her loving husband, Gary Girard. Together, Helen and Gary shared 21 years of the kind of love everyone hopes to find. They began dating in 2004 and were married on January 19, 2005, cherishing countless memories together, including a favorite trip to Hawaii in 2014.
Helen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Amanda Serafin (fiancé Justin Wojtalewicz) and John Anthony Serafin Jr.; her stepchildren, Dennis Girard, Jason Girard (Toni), and Jennifer Girard; and her beloved grandchildren: Isaak Musson, Dominick Ulrick, and Landon Wojtalewicz (children of Amanda and Justin); Carson, Aubrey, Emerson, and Noah Serafin (children of John); Tyler, Marley, and Kaylin Girard (children of Dennis); Eli and Sam Girard (children of Jason and Toni); and Avery Girard and Gage Levandoski (children of Jennifer). She also leaves behind her adored dog, Jasper.
Helen is further survived by her brothers, Ernie Marchel (Crystal), John Marchel (Kathy), Chris Marchel (Jeannie), Ray Marchel, and Frank Marchel (Tina). She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Verna Marchel, and her sister, Shirley "Kitty" Marchel.
Helen's warmth and vibrant spirit touched everyone she met. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her warm and embracing hugs, and her golden heart. Though small in stature, Helen was feisty, brave, and courageous, with a sassy sense of humor and a witty, intelligent, and strong-minded personality. She was always stylish, accessorizing fabulously and creating inviting, rich, and warm surroundings. Her incredible eye for home interiors and design made every house she lived in a true home, both for herself and for others.
Helen had many hobbies and interests that brought her joy, including interior design, jewelry making, working with children, and going for car rides to explore new scenic areas. She had a special love for her daycare years, where she made a lasting impact on many young lives.
Throughout her career, Helen worked in a variety of roles, including seven years in daycare, ten years at an animal hospital, six years as a real estate agent, two years as a chiropractic office manager, and one year as a title company agent.
Helen was truly an amazing woman with a big heart, whose inner beauty and kindness will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
In accordance with Helen's wishes, she will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks to honor her memory.
