Helen Hawthorn, age 98, of Crane, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 3:00 a.m. at The Crockett County Nursing Home in Ozona, Texas.

Born on September 9, 1926, in Santa Anna, Texas, Helen was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel Augustus and Nola Alma Tarver Moore, Jr. She grew up in Coleman County and attended Santa Anna Schools.

On July 25, 1942, she married Truman Fletcher in Santa Anna, Texas. Following his passing, she later married Wayne D. Hawthorn on November 15, 1957. Helen was preceded in death by Wayne in 2002 and her son, Glen Fletcher, in 2019.

Helen was a cherished member of the Crane community for 60+ years, dedicating her time and energy to the Crane Senior Citizen Club. She spent 10 years working in the school cafeteria and was a devoted member of the First Methodist Church in Crane.

She is survived by her children: Carol Adcock of Ozona, Texas, whose late husband Leroy passed in 2009; Kathleen Walker of Brenham, Texas; Mary Hemond of Monahans, Texas, whose late husband George passed in 2020; Donna and her husband Mike Chapman of Roanoke, Texas; and Dale and his wife Lori Hawthorn of Crane, Texas.

Helen leaves behind a legacy of love through her eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Crane.
