She is survived by her son, Nick (Lisa) Laenen, daughter, Monica (Don) Margerum, grandchildren, David (Catherine) Strecker, Amber (Jerry) Henstorf, Nico Laenen, Luke Laenen, Justin (Lauren) Laenen and Jesse (Rachael) Laenen. She always had a sparkle in her eye for her seven great granddaughters and three great grandsons.
Helen and Nick truly lived the American Dream: immigrating from the Netherlands with 75 dollars and one trunk of belongings to Canada in 1953, then to the United States in 1963. She proudly raised and lowered the Flag every day of her life in honor of what this country provided for her and the family. She found great happiness in the company of her loved ones, creating lasting memories through simple moments of togetherness.
Helen enjoyed volunteering at hospitals and hospice, creating stained glass artwork and needle working.
The service will be held at Otterbein Senior Life Community Room, 100 Red Oak Drive, Cridersville, Ohio 45806. It will be held at 1:00 pm, Feb 22nd, 2025. Celebration of Life to follow the service.

I didn´t know until a moment ago that Helen had passed. I was at mass and looked over to where she always sat and l suddenly felt compelled to search the obituaries. I pulled up her obituary. She and your dad were just the kindest and most genuine people and it was a pleasure to care for them for so many years. You have my deepest sympathies at this time and on this mother´s day.
