Helen Louise Thompson was born November 25, 1935 to Robert Thompson and Pearl Thompson. She was called home on June 24, 2025, to cease from laboring and to enter rest.
Helen attended Booker T. Washington High School and graduated on June 2, 1955, and after graduating she attended Franklin Beauty School and pursued a career at Jefferson Davis Hospital and then retired as a nurse aide.
Helen was united in marriage to Joe H. Betts, Sr., from Normangee, Texas. To this union Helen brought her 3 daughters and son, Debra Cook, Brenda Maxey, Terry Kennison (deceased), and son Joe H. Betts, Jr. Helen enjoyed outings to the casino, fishing, dancing, and eating her favorite dishes. She loved and inspired many people with her presence and soft voice, kids loved being around her because they knew they had comfort and love.
Helen leaves now to mourn yet cherish her precious memory: her son, Joe h. Betts, Jr. (Clarissa Betts), her daughter in law; two daughters, Debra Cook and Brenda Maxey, son in law, Mike Kennison, sister, Alberta Hodge, husband (Norman Hodge) and an uncle, nieces, nephews, great grandkids, grandkids, and a host of family members and friends.
