Herbert Hoke Obituary

Herbert "Herb" Hoke III, age 79, of Burnsville, MN, passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2025.

Herb was born on December 3, 1945, in Kansas City, KS, to Herbert and Nira Delphine (Del) Hoke. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 as part of the Finance Corps, with assignments in both Vietnam and Germany. Following his military service, he attended St. Ambrose University and went on to a long and dedicated career with the City of Minneapolis, retiring as Director of Accounting after more than 30 years of service.

An avid outdoorsman, Herb found great joy in canoeing the Boundary Waters and Ontario, cross-country skiing, and fishing. He also loved RVing and Jeeping, and for the past 20 years, he and his wife, Donalene, enjoyed spending winters together in Arizona.

Herb is survived by his loving wife, Donalene; his son, Tim (Susan) Hoke; stepchildren, Philip (Laurie) Larsen and Julaine (Tom) Setter; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; his sister, Cindy (Dave) Power; along with extended family and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at White Funeral Home, 12804 Nicollet Ave. S., Burnsville, MN, with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
