Mr. H. G. (Hoot Gibson) Brown, age 86 of Telford, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at
his residence on Friday morning, July 25, 2025.
Hoot was a native of Greene County, born November 25, 1938 to the late Morelock McKinley
(Mac) Brown and Edna Blanche Fisher.
Hoot was saved at an early age and was of the Baptist faith.
Hoot was a beloved daddy and husband who always provided for his family. Over the years he
had various occupations including building houses, Lingo Packing, along with his brother Wayde
owning Indian Ridge Texaco, operating heavy equipment, mechanic at various places including
Auto Electric, B & B Auto Repair and West Side Radiator, electrician's helper with his son
Michael at B & B Electric and farmer till the day he passed away. He also was an avid antique tractor collector.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 ½ years Viola Marie Brown in October 2024.
He was also preceded by brothers Boley, Hobart, George, Wayde and Bea Allen; sisters Leila
Hensley, Nila Price, Barbara and Betty Blanche.
Those left to cherish his memory include son, Michael; daughter, Denah (Scott Reaves),
grandboys Cody, Zach, Caleb and Dylan; brother Hoppie; sister, Mary Emma Bell, many nieces
and nephews, special little friend and helper Sam and his special great-grandchildren Adaleigh
and Axel Reaves.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 30th at Jonesborough Funeral Home from 5:00
to 7:00 PM.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 31 st at Bowmantown Baptist Church,
Jonesborough with Rev. Bill Taylor and Pastor Josh Grizzle officiating. Graveside services will
follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Limestone. Pallbearers will be nephews, Jonathan Brown,
Bobby Brown, Tony Sparks, Matthew Sparks, Steve Brown, Caleb Reaves and Dylan Reaves.
