Ila "Rozan" McCormick, 73, of Robinson, IL, entered into the arms of Jesus on April 20, 2025, when she passed from this life at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. Born April 28, 1951, in O'Neill, NE, she grew up in Carter Lake, IA, where her heart for people and faith in Christ began to take root. She graduated from high school in nearby Council Bluffs in 1969 and, shortly after, followed the call of God to North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN. It was there she met Larry McCormick, the man who would become her lifelong teammate in ministry, her best friend, and the love of her life. They were married on June 17, 1972, and together, they poured themselves into pastoral ministry across Ohio and Indiana before planting roots at Dayspring Christian Fellowship in Trimble, IL.
Rozan wasn't just a pastor's wife. She was a spiritual mother to many-a safe place in a broken world. If you needed someone to listen, someone to pray, someone to just sit beside you-Rozan was always there. A Sunday school teacher who spoke truth with tenderness. A prayer warrior who carried others' burdens to the throne of grace, day after day. Rozan was equal parts tenderness and tenacity. Her love had texture-you could feel it in her hugs (everyone got one), in her words, in the way she listened so carefully and remembered the details others tend to forget. And though her body grew weaker in recent years, her love only grew stronger. Even in the hospital, she had enough spunk to tease the nurses and enough grace to ask visiting friends how they were doing.
Rozan loved people-but she especially loved her people. She was proud to be a stay-at-home mom and believed that being present was one of the greatest gifts you could give someone. That's why she championed regular family nights. These get-togethers were full of food (usually pizza or Mexican), laughter, games like Rook, Boggle, Skip-Bo, and Uno-and deep connection. Her table was a sacred space where conversations were real, and memories were made. She made time to know each grandchild individually-holding them close, listening intently, investing her full heart.
The way she loved others so completely pointed back to the love that shaped her life-an unshakable, ever-present love that came from her Heavenly Father. She didn't just talk about God-she walked with Him. And you could feel it. And now, we find comfort in knowing that the One she walked with by faith, she now sees face to face.
Rozan is home.
She has been reunited with her husband, Rev. Larry McCormick, and her parents, Roy & Ruth (Lindberg) Worth. She leaves behind a legacy of love in the lives of her children & their spouses: Kim & Rodney Burton (Effingham, IL), Amanda & Eliseo Ferreyra (Neuquén, Argentina), Joshua McCormick & Suzanne Hambrick (West Union, IL), and Angela Zapor & Sean Conner (Robinson, IL); her grandchildren: Shaley Garrard, Abi Ferreyra, Sami Ferreyra, Noah Zapor, Josiah Burton, Sean Conner, Hana Ferreyra, Kaleb Zapor, Sofi Ferreyra, and Andrew Zapor; and her great-grandchildren, Jasper and Bellamy. She is also survived by her brother & sister-in-law, Randy & Cindy Worth (Omaha, NE); her sister, Rozella Lewis (Stockton, CA); and several nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on her birthday, Monday, April 28th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m., with her son-in-law, Rodney Burton, officiating. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available at https://www.goodwinefuneralhomes.com/live-stream/live-stream.
