Funeral service for Inez Patricia Broadway, 80 of Accokeek, Maryland (formerly Dermott, Arkansas) will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025. Service will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, 1110 North Alma Street, Dermott; Rev. William Freeman, Jr. Officiating Minister.
Inez Patricia Broadway was born on June 10, 1945, in Baxter, Arkansas. She was the fifth of 13 children born to the late Herman and Willie Mae Allen. On July 16, 2025, Inez transitioned peacefully to her new home in Glory, surrounded by loved ones.
Inez professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age, as a member of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Baxter, Arkansas, under the leadership of Reverend W.H. King, and afterwards, Reverend Tommie Lee Hudspeth. Later in life, she united with Longley Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, under the leadership of Pastor Dwight D. Townsend Sr.
Inez attended school in Baxter, Arkansas, and later enrolled in Morris Booker Memeorial College, under President York W. Williams, in Dermott, Arkansas, with her cousins Clemitee Darton Simmons and Margie Whitten Quinn. She cherished the memories of childhood shenanigans with her cousins.
Following high school, Inez moved to Chicago, Illinois seeking employment opportunities to secure a better life for her family. For many years she was employed with Reynold's Aluminum. While in Chicago she met and married the love of her life, William Broadway. Broadway not only loved her, but also loved and accepted her two children, Carolyn and Rodney, as his own.
Inez touched the lives of many, and was known for her wit, sass, dancing, and keen ear for a good story. She was preceded in death by her parents (Herman and Willie Mae Allen), husband (William Broadway), son (Rodney Allen), and siblings (Fred Earl Applegate, Herman Allen, Bobbie Faye Nelson, Dorothy Richardson, and Marilyn Allen-Walls).
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
