Irene Mary Marquard, 98 of Lake Tomahawk, previously Stevens Point, passed away peacefully on July 17th, 2025.

Irene was born on September 29th, 1926 to the late Adam and Evelyn (Koback) Stanchik. On October 7th, 1944 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stevens Point, Irene married Merle Marquard. Together they raised their children, Pat and Jim, in the Stevens Point area until their retirement. Merle preceded Irene in death in August of 2004.

Irene worked in the food service department at UW-Stevens Point for many years before retiring in 1998. Once retired, Irene and Merle moved to Horse Head Lake. Irene loved to fish and play bingo. She also loved trying her luck at the casino. Her and Merle enjoyed all these hobbies together.

Irene is survived by her siblings, Linda, Barbara, Ernest, Ronald, Jeanne, and Eleanor; her daughter, Pat Bialas; daughter-in-law, Christine Marquard; her grandsons, Jeff and Scott Marquard & Tim and Shawn Bialas; and her great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle; her parents, Adam and Evelyn; her in-laws, Fred and Julia, her 6 brothers and 3 sisters, her son, Merle James "Jim" Marquard; and her son-in-law, Florian Bialas.

The family would like to thank the staff at Care Partners County Terrace of Minocqua. Irene enjoyed the activities so much…from coloring to seeing the dogs to playing bingo!

A Graveside Service of Remembrance for Irene will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 24th, 2025 at Forest Cemetery, 2125 Patch Street, Stevens Point. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later date. Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Marquard Family.
