Irene Marie (Jasek) Michalsky, 90, of La Grange, Texas passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Irene was born in Fayette County, Texas on May 9, 1935, the daughter of Henry and Sophie (Kutzmann) Jasek. She married Alfred Michalsky on November 20, 1955, at St. John's Catholic Church in Fayetteville.
She worked in the cafeteria at Sacred Heart Catholic School for several years. Irene loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. If she wasn't inside making a meal that could feed the town, she was outside working in her garden and flower beds or tending to her chickens. She also loved doing all sorts of construction projects with her honey, Alfred. They were truly a pair that loved working on everything together. Sharing 63 years of marriage, they were inseparable, and now they are reunited as one with Christ.
Irene was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of La Grange and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation #1962, the KJZT St. Frances of Rome Society #31, and the Altar Society.
She is survived by daughter, Vicky Bargas (Louis); son, Mark Michalsky (Charlotte) all of La Grange, TX; four granddaughters: Holly McBroom (Jason); Nicole Vasut (Jason); Miranda Schlabach (Michael) and Amy Newton (Terrell); great grandchildren: Tori, Taylyn and Teagan Newton; Elyse McBroom; and Reeanna Ramirez; step great grandchildren: Kaylee, Kyler, and Kolton Vasut; and step great-great grandson: Wyatt Fish.
The family would love to also thank the hospice nurses that took great care of Irene: Amanda Ulrich, Kelly Muzny, and Virginia Raley; and Deacon Doug Tromblee who served her spiritually during her hospice journey. A special thanks to Debra Williams who gave her excellent in-home care along with her daughter in law, Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Alfred Michalsky, who passed away on April 16, 2019.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange. Family will receive friends at that time.
A second visitation will also be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. A rosary will follow at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at La Grange City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 1048 N. Jefferson St., La Grange, TX 78945 or to Sacred Heart Catholic School, P.O. Box 548, La Grange, TX 78945.
